Release Retain Recruit - A Lee Hecht Harrison Global Study
Release - Retain - Recruit A Lee Hecht Harrison Global Study Regardless of economic conditions, organizations inevitably find themselves in a cycle of workforce regeneration. They simultaneously release, retain and recruit employees in order to refocus and renew their workforces for maximum productivity and business results. Our latest research report: Release, Retain, Recruit: Optimizing the Cycle of Workforce Regeneration, is designed to help organizations understand and deal with this reality.Based on a survey of senior human resource executives at 300 medium and large organizations throughout the world, the data is presented in three sections: Release - Provides a snapshot of how organizations are currently handling downsizings, including what they are doing for those who are separated, the managers who deliver the message and the employees who remain. Retain - Reveals what organizations are doing to retain employees, including how they have changed the employee benefits and programs they provide since 2001. Recruit - Indicates what organizations are doing to attract new employees, the challenges they face, how they compare to their competitors and how they plan to respond to future talent shortages. We added to the data our insights and advice from 30 years of leadership in helping companies and individuals effectively manage change, downsizing and internal career mobility. Among our key findings: - Companies have learned important lessons about how to conduct downsizings compassionately and effectively, however, most still have room for improvement.
- There has been a fundamental shift in what is valued by prospective employees, and employers are increasingly speaking the same language.
- Leadership development, career opportunities and flexible scheduling have emerged as key elements in retention and recruitment efforts.
- Moreover, employers recognize that future recruiting challenges may be met, in part, by training and advancing existing employees, which underscores the mutually beneficial nature of such programs.
Our research reveals significant changes are occurring in employer and employee attitudes on downsizing, retention and recruitment. As a result, employers of choice must:- Recognize that all three activities require exceptional strategic planning;
- Understand their interconnectedness; and
- Realize the need to build strong leaders for future success.
Organizations that can optimize the cycle of workforce regeneration will be leaders in their industry and better serve all of their constituencies - customers, employees, shareholders and the communities in which they operate.To request a copy of the full report, please contact our office at 515-453-9590.
