President - Talent Solutions![]() An accomplished human resources professional, performance consultant, coach, facilitator, and change agent, Thom is a strategic, collaborative, and results-oriented leader with over 30 years experience in human capital management and development. For more than 14 years Thom served on senior management teams of several major corporations, and throughout his career he has provided direct leadership for nearly 50 highly competent and committed professionals. Thom specializes in leadership and organizational development, talent management, and performance improvement, and he is passionate about helping leaders select, direct, develop, engage, reward, and retain top talent. He uses interactive processes to help individuals, teams, and organizations develop more rapidly and produce better results, improving others’ ability to set goals, take action, make decisions, and fully utilize their strengths and potential. Thom provides coaching, HR, and other performance improvement support for leaders at all levels, and for organizations of various size and complexity, from small local businesses to very large and diversified global corporations. Industry experience includes banking, insurance, health care, high-tech, manufacturing, media, wholesale distribution, education, non-profit; supported customer service, engineering, finance, IT, legal, operations, marketing, and sales. Prior to joining CRG, Thom led the human resources functions for ADP, Central Resource Group (now AVIVA), Commtron Corporation (now Ingram), and First Interstate Bank (now Bank of America); and also learning and performance functions for Meredith Corporation, J&H/KVI, and Equitable of Iowa (now ING). He began his career as a consultant with Davidson and Associates. Thom earned both his Master of Arts (in Management Science) and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa, where he worked as both a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant for the senior-level integrative organizational strategy and policy course. Thom also completed all coursework for a Specialist degree in Adult Learning & Organizational Performance from Drake University, where he taught as Adjunct Faculty member for six years. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), throughout his career Thom has been an active member of the global organizations and local chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). He was President of Central Iowa SHRM in 1997 and currently serves as Iowa SHRM State Council Membership Director. |
